Sales, marketing, legal in every market they operate in. Remember they don't have to deal only with different countries, but different states and municipalities in each of them, each with their own laws and ordnances and lobbying needs.
Could you elaborate a bit on what other vendors screw up?
Here, in Hungary, ordering from Amazon is problematic, because it's such a beast. No human in the loop, and they pass on your package to some delivery vendor anyway, which usually doesn't provide much tracking. So we get no* benefit of the machine at all.
* - sure, we get an interface that's at least consistent and usually available in English
Fast OR cheap shipping. At least in my locality. In the place I most frequently order, free shipping is scheduled for "5-7 business days" to get to me, and frequently gets misdirected and takes an extra day or two (pushing it past another weekend).
When I've ordered to one of Canada's large urban centers it is much faster. But going to an actual store to get something for the same price is also an option, and faster still. And doesn't tend to have difficult to spot counterfeits.
Effective January 6, 2020, CBP will begin collecting DNA from any person in CBP

Can please you calm down? You've been spamming this discussion while getting increasingly hostile. We get it, you don't think people should play as much videogames as they do. Good, we get it.
I'm fascinated by people's reactions. The identity to needing video games absolutely intrigues me. So yea, at this point, it's my vice to poke and prod and better understand how people relate to video games. So... yea, I'm identifying with trying to better understand the psyche of those that identify with needing video games every minute of their lives.
That, and I'm actually really curious how many downvotes it takes to get banned.
If you are really trying to understand the psyche, you would be more open, ask more questions, and be less judgy. Telling people to go hug a tree is not how you understand people, and it does make you look bad.
I'm in the same boat as you, tho. I'm in the video game streaming industry... I don't understand at all how people actually watch other people play video games, and I do think there's benefit to disconnect.
I really like Safari. Underrated browser. Unfortunately it lacks one feature that _to me_ is a dealbreaker: a way to have multiple identities/profiles.
This is true, but personally I've often found that this also prevents me from forcing a link to open in a new tab (via cmd-click) and have that new tab share cookies with its parent. Clicking on a link with target=_blank does work, though, which actually makes it more annoying that cmd-click does not.
It seems to me that the minority can dictate things that are inconsequential to the majority.
Take the halal example: as the author says, the kosher eater won't eat non-halal food, but non-kosher eaters don't mind eating halal. If it wasn't so, I don't think a Kosher minority would be able to impose anything.
Seems like the author is picking and choosing examples.
