The other issue I have is when you go to a local store they don’t stock items, they say “we can order it”. I needed a gasket for my Kamado Joe grill. I went to my local dealer. They didn’t have one and proceeded to order one for me - the salesman was looking on the Amazon site! Why would I buy it from them? I haven’t been back since.

Might not be everyone’s dream but a union tradesperson can make a living. Now it looks like jobs will be available. I’m a retired union electrician with a paid off second snowbird home in Florida. Funny thing is with in a stone’s throw from that house are three other retired union trades people snowbird homes.

The problem with this article is that after all the low hanging fruit white collar jobs (writing, programming, artists, finance, etc) are done by AI, this is next in the value chain.

WIRED has just told VCs and private equity investors alike what the new value is for budding and existing AI startups they funded to scoop the value creation ROI for their funds.

So this will end up having the opposite effect over time. It will go like this:

AI as an assistant (25% of work done by AI) + experienced electrician / plumber (75% of work done by human)

AI doing half the work (50% of work done by AI) + experienced electrician / plumber (50% of work done by human)

AI does most of the work (75% of work done by AI) + experienced electrician / plumber (25% of work done by human)

AI does almost all the work (95% of work done by AI) + experienced/junior electrician / plumber (5% of work done by human)

AI does 100% of all the work.

During this process, the VCs and investors already made a killing on the public and private markets. Returns parts or all of the fund, raises a new fund and onto the next "safe job"

Rinse and repeat.

I will never buy another Belin product. If they screw us once they will screw us again! Teaching these companies a lesson by never buying their products again is the only option consumers have in this day and age.

I’m an unhappy American. With D-ump’s anti science and education stance Europe (and china) will have an unprecedented chance to lure some great talent. With grants being suspended, colleges, government science, and technology professionals will have to find employment, Europe would be very attractive to a lot of educated people in the USA. My daughter holds a phd and is on the chopping block, I plan to tell her and her husband if they get job offers in Europe, I would gladly sell everything here and move to Europe too!
